Workplace CSA 2012 Season

The Summer CSA season runs from: June 6th – August 22nd (12 weeks)
Membership applications are due May 21st, 2012

To sign up for the 2012 Summer CSA Season:
1) Submit a membership form provided by your office.  Please include the name of your workplace in the email subject title
2) Complete payment online or by check
Checks should be sent to: Local Roots NYC, 101 Warren Street #A3E, Brooklyn, NY, 11201
3) Receive confirmation e-mail and eagerly wait for the CSA season to begin!

Half Shares feed households of 1-2 people
Full Shares feed households of 3-5 people

Product: Vegetables
Farm: The Rogowski Farm
Growing: Organic
Shares: Half / Full
Cost: $151 [$12.58 per week] / $288 [$24 per week]
Sample Share: Half – 1/2lb Spinach, 1lb Summer Squash, 1 bunch Scallions, 1 bunch Beets, 1 bunch Kale
Sample Share – Full – 1lb Spinach, 2lb Summer Squash, 2 bunch Scallions, 2 bunch Beets, 2 bunches Kale

Enjoy a variety of 4 – 6 different seasonal vegetables a week, including spinach, kale, scallions, lettuce, bok choy, herbs, squash, and corn. Distributions are weekly for half and full shares.  Bring on the vitamins!

Cost: $80 [$8 every week] / $160 [$16 every week]

Strawberries, Blueberries, Plums, Nectarines, and everything else great about summer fruit!  Fruit shares are weekly and begin the third week of the CSA season due to the seasonality of fruit grown in the NorthEast.

Farm: Orwasher Bakery
Share: Half / Full
Cost: $30 [ $5 every other week] / $60 [$5 per week]
Sample Share: 1 Challah Loaf

This share is comprised of Artisan Wine Breads, Classic New York Breads, and Classic European Breads. In other words, that means Sour Dough, Challah, Swiss Health, Whole Wheat, Beer Bread, etc.  This bread share goes great with our cheese and fruit share.  Half shares are every other week and full shares are every week.

Farm: A rotation of artisanal purveyors

Made in Brooklyn, sourced from local farms when possible

Cost: $84 [$7 per week] / $168 [$14 per week]
Sample Share: Half – 1 bag of spicy bacon caramel popcorn
Sample Share: Full  - 1 bag of spicy bacon caramel popcorn and 1 bag of honey almond caramel popcorn
We’ve curated a share that shows off the artisanal Brooklyn food scene and it doesn’t get more local than this!  This season’s participating purveyors are Brooklyn Soda Works (soda), Ovenly (snacks), Mike’s Hot Honey (honey), Rick’s Picks (pickles), KBBK (kombucha), Liddabit Sweets (candy), and  SlantShack (beef jerky).  Each week will feature a different purveyor.

Cost: $37 [$12.30 per month / $59 [$19.70 per month]
Sample Share: Half – 1lb Pinto Beans, 1lb Wheat Berries, 2lbs All Purpose Flour.
Sample Share: Full – 2lbs Pinto Beans, 2lbs Wheat Berries, 2lbs All Purpose Flour
Products range in variety from Popcorn and Spelt Berries to Cornmeal Flour and Polenta to Pinto Beans and Sweet Soybeans. Half and Full shares are monthly.

Please note that there are no refunds for missed shares and as a member of a CSA, you share both the bounties and risks of the farmer.  CSA shares will vary from week to week depending on seasonality and weather, and there is no guarantee on the exact amount of contents of the share.
