Thanksgiving is a time of reflection, expressing feelings of gratitude, and gathering around delicious food with those you love. As we take time to reflect on everything we are so grateful for, some of our strongest feelings of appreciation are toward our farmers, local producers, and our customers, who we like to call Local Roots New Yorkers. The dedication and endless hard work of our farmers and producers continues to fill our homes with fresh, healthy, and sustainable foods. Our amazing Local Roots members are a constant source of inspiration. Not only are we awed by the creative dishes they make with Local Roots foods but we are so grateful for the commitment they have to healthy relationships with the local food system and their unending support for Local Roots.
Local Roots NYC Thanksgiving CSA pop-up is the perfect way to fill our kitchen tables with the best food available grown and created by the most devoted humans. We’ve curated a variety of shares so you can pick and choose what will adorn your own Thanksgiving table based on you and your families personal diet and lifestyle.
If you’re traveling for the holiday, bring a piece of Brooklyn to your host and arrive with sweet handmade pies! With so many options – S’mores, Bourbon Ginger Pecan, Caramel Apple, Cranberry or Pumpkin – every sweet craving can be satisfied. If you need to travel with something a little smaller, any host would be thrilled with Beth’s Farm Kitchen Cranberry sauce. A small batch seasonal treat, you will be spreading this locally made jam on everything from mashed potatoes and stuffing to turkey sandwich leftovers.
Thanksgiving turkeys often sit on the shelf for days and are frozen before being thawed at most grocery stores. Local Roots turkeys come fresh straight from Quattro’s Farm in upstate New York where they have lived peacefully with freedom from the day they were hatched. They mostly graze on what they find in their natural habitat outdoors but they are also fed local, non-gmo grains like wheat, oats, corn, soy, and barley. Farmer Carmella Quattro has been raising turkeys since she was a little girl and continues to raise the turkeys that will be adorning our Thanksgiving tables.
We’ve also curated the ideal blend of fall vegetables to ensure that your Thanksgiving table will be filled with the most popular, flavorful dishes. You can expect to be cooking with sweet potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, broccoli, celery, onions, brussels sprouts and more. The vegetables will come with Local Roots staff’s traditional family recipes that have been shared and enjoyed for generations.
Any delicious Thanksgiving food that you could crave can be picked up or delivered all at once through Local Roots Thanksgiving CSA pop-up leaving more time to focus on what really matters this season – spending time with those you love.
