Local Roots NYC and Think Olio are partnering up on Thursday, September 29 at Berg’n in Crown Heights for a dinner party with a guided conversation aroundwhy food is trending so much right now and how we create meaningful connections with it.
We will consider issues around our relationship with food, which is just one of the many ways that we express our yearning for something with more texture and more taste than our daily experience of Facebook and Twitter and cubicles and cross-platform synergy. How do we work towards a more mindful approach to our food that, rather than accommodating the latest fads or our particular tastes, considers our place in the food chain and eating’s connection to the act of living?
Professor Haltenberger from Hunter College will begin the class with a short lecture to guide the conversation during dinner. Attendees will be seated at tables of four and the professor will occasionally check in on the different groups before concluding with another short lecture and a group discussion.
Enjoy a Landhaus farm to table dinner of fried chicken sandwich, chickens humanely raised, or veggie burger with family style salads using Local Roots CSA salad greens. Dinner will be paired with Bell’s Brewery beer.
Tickets including drinks, meal, and guided discussion around food, power, and control are only $30 – get them here!
