What Makes Us Unique

There are over 100 CSAs in NYC, but three reasons that make Local Roots CSA different than all the rest.  Drum roll please…

1.  Freedom of Choice – In most CSAs, members are committed to purchasing a vegetable share in order to join the CSA.  On the other hand, Local Roots members have the opportunity to purchase shares of a variety of products independently of a vegetable share.   For example, members can purchase just a fruit share or just a bread share.  Simple!

2.  Flexible Payment – Traditionally, CSA members are required to pay for an entire season (June – November) at once.  Paying for six months of food at one time can be financially difficult for some and intimidating for others.  For this reason, we split the season into Summer and Fall.  The Summer season runs from June til August (12 weeks) and the Fall season is from September to November (12 weeks).

3. Stress Free – CSAs are generally started by awesome volunteers within a community.  If you don’t have the time to commit to starting your own CSA, Local Roots NYC will do the work for you.  We’ve dedicated ourselves to expanding CSA in New York City and therefore the number of people who know more about their food and their farmer.    Just let us know a neighborhood and we’ll do our best to find a home for a CSA in that area.
