Pop Up Thanksgiving CSA

Local Roots NYC’s Pop Up Thanksgiving CSA is curated for your turkey-day needs and is not just for CSA members. Deliciously fresh produce from local farms can be delivered or picked up at a number of convenient locations. Select from whole turkeys, fresh vegetables, fruit, homemade bread, ciders, cheeses and more, which you can cater specifically to your own Thanksgiving menu.  Those that purchase a turkey or vegetable share will receive a complimentary bag to tote your items home in.  We’ll even provide some of our favorite recipes; they always say Thanksgiving is a time of sharing!

Delivery

Delivery is available to Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens residents; delivery time will be assigned a week prior.  Available days are:
Saturday, November 17 from 2 – 9pm
Sunday, November 18 from 2 – 9pm

Pick Up

Pick up your CSA shares on Tuesday, November 20th from 6 – 8pm at the following locations:

How to order your Thanksgiving Shares:

Orders must be submitted by Friday, October 26th
1.  You MUST fill out an ORDER FORM
Please double check your selected shares before submitting

2.   Complete Payment either online or by check
If paying online, please use the same name at checkout that is written on your Order Form

Half Shares feed a dinner for 4-6 people

Farm: Di Paola Turkey Farm
Growing: All Natural, Free Range or Roaming, Cage Free, 100 Percent Vegetarian Feed, USDA Inspected
Cost:$4.95/pound, $30 deposit for half share and $50 deposit for full share. Remaining payment due upon receiving Turkey with check or cash only.
Half Share: 10 – 14lb Turkey
Full Share: 15-25lb Turkey

Dipaola Turkey Farm is a 2nd generation family farm located in Hamilton Township, New Jersey.  They frequent farmers markets throughout the city.  There is no way to guarantee an exact weight of a turkey; therefore, we have provided a weight interval for each share. A deposit must be paid upon ordering and payment completed with check or cash when receiving the turkey. General ordering for a Thanksgiving Turkey is 1 – 1.5lbs = 1 person. Please note these are not pre-cooked.

Vegetables are naturally grown in Pine Island, New York by Cheryl Rogowski, the first farmer to win the MacArthur genius award for starting the first low-income CSA in NYC.  Based on seasonality, we can not guarantee all of the vegetables listed will be available; however, we will substitute if necessary.

A mix of seasonal apples grown in Milford, NJ, this share makes one mean apple pie.

Drink it straight, add some spices, or bake it in an apple pie!  This cider is delicious any which way since it’s pressed right on the farm made with all local apples.  No sugars added.

Great for stuffing or those next day turkey sandwiches!  We recommend storing bread in a plastic bag in the refrigerator until Thanksgiving

Handmade in West Pawlet, Vermont, this artisanal cheese has been awarded first place in the American Cheese Society Annual Competition.  The Pawlet is great for cheese platters but also for cooking.

Realizing a shared passion for sustainably produced, fresh, superior-quality ingredients and sweets, Liz Gutman and Jen King started their business in 2009.  Their treats are made with locally sourced ingredients and were listed in Detail Magazine’s top 10 snacks for cocktail parties.

Made with only honey, vinegar, and chilies, this honey is a must have in everyone’s kitchen (no exaggeration!).  Use it on your turkey, roasted vegetables, home made cookies, ice cream, and anything else you can imagine.  This guy has truly uncovered a culinary secret.

Agatha and Erin met at a food-focused book club and hit it off immediately.  Soon, they were developing recipes based on their shared Eastern European background and now have a store in Greenpoint.  These baked goods are the only way to end a Thanksgiving meal.

Delivery is available for residents in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens for an additional charge.  You will receive an email 1 week prior with your delivery time.
